Macpower Introduces it's first ever NDAS Media Player – Box Office 2007/11/06

Macpower, leading manufacturer of media players, digital signage solutions, and external storage enclosures today unveils its latest media player – the Box Office. With simple connection to any television, enjoy your video, music, and photo files in the comfort of your living room. Plus, with NDAS (Network Direct Attached Storage) technology you can copy your media files via network from a computer to the Box Office’s internal 3.5” hard drive for added convenient playback.

The Box Office utilises both high-speed USB 2.0 and Ethernet interfaces for data transferring. Via USB 2.0, the Box Office connects easily to any workstation to copy media files to its internal storage. With NDAS technology, users can access the storage space on the media player in the living room from any computer connected to the network via easy and fast Ethernet connection.

"Plug and play via USB connection to copy your files from a computer," Tommy Chen, Macpower's President explained, "Or simply connect the Ethernet cable to transfer files via network."

Most standard video, music, and photo files are available on the Box Office allowing users to enjoy their own personal media collection from any television. Also with advanced ISO playback capabilities, users can create a virtual DVD file so all functions such as chapter selection, subtitles, and extra features are all accessible.

"Bring the digital experience to the living room," explains Mr. Chen. "What you see at your workstation can now be viewed and enjoyed on a wide screen TV and home theatre system."

The Box Office houses a 3.5" hard drive in a compact durable Mac-mini type casing. Extra large bottom heat sink keeps the hard drive cool eliminating the need to use a fan. Plus with extra thick rubber feet stands, the hard drive is protected against any excess vibration.

"Great performance, and great looks," Mr. Chen remarked, "The Box Office is the perfect addition to any home entertainment system."

The all new Box Office is available now at Macpower partners across the globe. It will also be available for OEM projects, and Macpower welcomes any requests from OEM partners.
